There was once a great chief who ruled over a very large kingdom. He was so powerful and rich that all men were his servants. Each year this king sent out one of his elders to find the one person in all the kingdom who was the biggest fool . When this person was found, the king gave him a ring called the "fool's ring." The foolish man had to wear the ring for one year.
There was one year that the king sent out his elder to find the greatest fool; but after many days of searching, he still could not find a truly foolish man, so, he returned to the king to tell him that there was no fool. However, the elder found the king very sick; even about to die. The elder rushed to the chief and asked of his illness. The chief said he was very sick and would die; so he asked the elder to call the holy men to pray for him because he was not ready to die. When the elder heard these words, he said to the chief, "If you have not prepared yourself for death, then you are the greatest fool in the kingdom." He put the fool's ring on the chief's hand.
All men are born to die. We know that all men will climb the ladder of death. Then why do we live as if we shall never die? We hear almost every day of automobile accidents, disease and turmoil that take the lives of people all around us. The Bible says that our lives are like a vapor of smoke, the steam rising from boiling water; we are here and then we are gone (James 4.14). However, most men and women live as if there is no God or there is no death that will take us to meet God.
The Bible says, "It is appointed unto men once to die and after that the judgment." (Hebrews 9.27). There is no doubt we will be called before God to stand in judgment . Listen to these Bible words: "For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to what he has done, whether it be good or bad." (2 Corinthians 5.10). My friend, one day you will die and you will meet God. What will God say to you ? Are you prepared to meet God?
