CHRIST'S LAW,
the Principle of Love

We are no longer under the Law of Moses, or any legal system, but under spiritual principles called "laws": the law of liberty, the royal law, the law of Spirit and life, and the law of Christ.

THE PRINCIPLE OF LOVE IS FROM THE BEGINNING

"As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love" 2 John 6. "I am not writing you a new command but an old one, which you have had since the beginning" 1 John 2:7-10. Jesus said the first and greatest command is to love God and the second is to love our neighbor. Love fulfills all the demands of law. Read Matthew 22:37-40; Romans 13:8-10.

CHRISTIANS ARE NOT UNDER ANY LEGAL CODE,
BUT WALK AFTER THE GUIDELINES OF CHRIST

Although Paul said he was not under law, he did say he was under the "law" of Christ, 1 Corinthians 9:20,21. "Carry each others burdens, and thus fulfill the law of Christ" Galatians 6:2. Christ's law is fulfilled when we learn to love. "Whoever loves God must love his neighbor" 1 John 4:21. "Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law" Romans 13:10; Galatians 5:6,14.

TO INJURE OTHERS OR TO DO GOOD TO OTHERS
IS TO DO IT TO CHRIST

"To the extent that you did it to one of the least of one of these, ... you did it unto me" Matthew 25:40-45. To abuse our liberty in Jesus and to cause a weak person to stumble is to fail to walk in love and to sin against Christ, Romans 14:15; 1 Corinthians 8:9-12.

TO SHOW PARTIALITY OR PREJUDICE IS TO
SIN AGAINST THE ROYAL LAW, THE LAW OF LOVE.

"If you show partiality, you are committing sin ..." James 2:8-12. Jesus said: "Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you" Matthew 5:44.

"DEAR CHILDREN, LET US NOT LOVE WITH WORDS OR TONGUE
BUT WITH ACTIONS AND IN TRUTH" 1 John 3:18
