PASSAGES ON THE INSPIRATION AND
COMPLETENESS OF SCRIPTURE

GOD USED THE HOLY SPIRIT and spoke through men in Old Testament times. Hebrews 1:1; 2 Samuel 23:2; Jeremiah 1:9; 2 Peter 1:20,21

TODAY GOD SPEAKS to men through the message delivered through His Son. That message was given to the apostles by the Holy Spirit and is the teaching that Christians must follow. Things unclear in the Old Testament (mystery) are now revealed and written down on the command of God for our understanding. Hebrews 1:1,2; 2:1-4; Acts 2:42,43; John 14:25,26; 16:13; 17:14-20; 1 Peter 1:10-12; 2 Peter 3:2; Romans 16:25,26; Ephesians 3:1-6; Galatians 1:11,12.

THE GOSPEL, the apostle's teaching, is sufficient to produce active faith. It is an imperishable seed that endures forever. We do not have written down everything that Jesus did, but we have what God chose to reveal and that is adequate to reveal God to us, to produce active faith and to lead us to spiritual maturity. Romans 1:16,17; Acts 2:42; John 20:30,31; John 17:3; Romans 10:17; Ephesians 1:13; 2 Peter 1:3,4; 2 Timothy 3:16,17.

JESUS ALONE had the words of eternal life and through the Holy Spirit gave them to the apostles to remember. John 5:24,25; 6:63,68; 14:26; 16:13; 1 Thessalonians 2:13; Matthew 10:19,20.

GOD'S WORD IS SUFFICIENT for our salvation and should not be added to or subtracted from. Deuteronomy 4:2; 12:32; Proverbs 30:6; Revelations 22:18,19.

WE MUST NOT CHANGE THE GOSPEL, but teach only what the apostles of Christ taught. Acts 2:42; Galatians 1:6-9; Jude 3; 2 John 9.

THE APOSTLES' GOSPEL can lead us to salvation if we hold fast to it and do not go beyond what is written therein. 1 Corinthians 4:6; 15:1-4.

IT CAN NOT BE DESTROYED, 1 Peter 1:22-25; Matthew 24:35.
"You have been born anew, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God."
